A: AIS 156 is the Indian government's safety standard for EV batteries and chargers. Phase 2 is the stricter, updated version that mandates CAN Protocol communication between the charger and battery BMS, plus Earth Leakage Detection. All new Ampere scooters from 2024 onwards are Phase 2 compliant.
